Terms and Conditions for Members

Introduction

Welcome to our community pottery studio. These terms and conditions are designed to ensure a safe, respectful, and creative environment for all members. By joining and using our studio, you agree to abide by the following terms.

1. Membership

  • Membership is open to individuals aged 18 and over, unless otherwise agreed by the studio management.

  • Members must complete a registration form and pay the applicable membership fees before using the studio.

  • Membership is non-transferable and valid only for the registered individual.

 

2. Studio Access and Hours

  • Members may access the studio during posted opening hours. Access outside these hours is not permitted unless approved by management.

  • The studio may close for holidays, maintenance, or special events. Notice will be provided where possible.

 

3. Health and Safety

  • Members must attend a studio induction session before using equipment or materials.

  • Members are responsible for following all health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of tools and materials.

  • Closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing must be worn at all times.

  • Report all accidents, injuries, or hazards to staff immediately.

  • No food or drink is permitted in the work areas.

  • No smoking or vaping is permitted in or around the studio.

 

4. Use of Equipment and Materials

  • Studio equipment and materials are for member use only and must be treated with care.

  • Members must clean tools, equipment, and workspaces after use.

  • Personal tools and materials should be clearly labelled.

  • Glazes and chemicals must be used as instructed. Unauthorised substances are prohibited.

 

5. Storage

  • Allocated storage space is provided for members’ work. Unlabelled or abandoned items may be disposed of after two weeks’ notice.

  • The studio is not responsible for loss or damage to personal items left on the premises.

 

6. Conduct

  • Members must treat fellow members, staff, and visitors with respect and courtesy.

  • Disruptive, abusive, or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in suspension or termination of membership.

  • Theft or wilful damage of studio property will result in immediate termination of membership and possible legal action.

  • Members must be respectful of others when using the sink and toilet areas.  The area must be left clean after use.

  • All work stations should be cleaned well after use, please allow enough time at the end of a session to clean up.

 

7. Fees and Payment

  • Membership and session fees must be paid in advance as per the current fee schedule.

  • Late payments may result in suspension of access to the studio.

  • Fees are non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of management.

 

8. Workshops and Classes

  • Separate fees may apply for workshops and classes.

  • Booking is required in advance. Cancellations must be notified at least 48 hours prior to the event for a refund.

 

9. Kiln Use

  • Kiln firing schedules are managed by studio staff.

  • Only approved clay and glazes may be used in studio kilns.

  • The studio is not liable for loss or damage to work during firing.

 

10. Data Protection

  • Personal information will be handled in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

  • Members may receive studio updates via email. You may opt out at any time.

 

11. Amendments

  • The studio reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Members will be notified of significant changes.

 

12. Agreement

By signing up as a member and using the community pottery studio, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
